Shoalhaven City Council will be hosting a free workshop, addressing the issues of adolescent depression and suicide, at the Ulladulla Youth Centre on Saturday 22 October.
The ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop will feature a presentation from award winning motivational speaker and Vision in Mind CEO, Fay Jackson as well as youth acoustic performances, question and answer sessions and light refreshments.
Ms Jackson will provide information on the benefits of mentoring and meditation as well as advice and links to a host of local support networks.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said the ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop would be of tremendous benefit to residents directly or indirectly effected by depression.
“It would alarm residents to learn that each day seven people die as a result of suicide in Australia,” said Clr Green.
“Depression is a debilitating illness that that can leave sufferers overwhelmed, upset, angry, scared or unmotivated. The effects are different for everyone.
“The ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop is designed to help empower individuals to believe in themselves and take control of their situation.”
“Although designed for adolescents the workshop is free to residents of all ages. I would encourage anyone suffering from or wanting to learn more about depression to attend the ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop.”
The ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop is sponsored by Shoalhaven City Council, the Shoalhaven City Council Youth Advisory Committee, Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Awareness Network and Ulladulla Youth Centre.
Shoalhaven City Council will be hosting the free ‘Beautiful Soul’ workshop at the Ulladulla Youth Centre from 10.30am – 2pm on Saturday 22 October.
